Herbert Art Gallery and Museum
This watercolour was painted by Sara Hennell, friend of Mary Ann Evans (George Eliot). The watercolour states 'Hackney' in the bottom left and is probably of the home Sara lived in with her mother before they moved to Ivy Cottage in the grounds of her sister's home Rosehill in Coventry. This was probably done at the same time as VA.2009.3.1.
The reverse has a pencil sketch of a coastal scene.
This object is part of the George Eliot Collection.
