II 2-3 Sep 1767. Lease and Release whereby (in consideration of £25 paid by Richard Cox (of Styvechale, Coventry, carpenter) to Richard Booth (weaver) and George Smith and Daniel Jee junior (coopers), as executors of John Bottrill (of Coventry, clockmaker, deceased)) Richard Booth et al conveyed to Richard Cox and James Benbow (of Coventry, silk weaver) I's premises.
III 3 Sep 1767. Bond whereby Richard Booth, George Smith and David Jee junior were bound to Richard Cox in £50 to obseve II's covenants.
IV 21-22 Jan 1768. Lease and Release whereby, for £35 paid by Robert Keene [I] (of Coventry, carpenter) to Richard Cox and of 5/- by Robert Keene [I] and Samuel Phillips (of Coventry, carpenter) to R. Cox and James Benbow, Cox and J. Benbow conveyed the premises to R. Keene [I] and Samuel Phillips.
B As to the Other Part of the Premises
V 25-26 Apr 1766. Lease and Deed of Partition whereby, having recited: firstly, that Matthew Davis (of Coventry, carpenter; son of Aldum Davis (of Coventry, woolcomber, deceased) by his first wife Alice (also dead)) had inherited a moiety of the premises and Elizabeth Davis [I] (of Coventry, spinster; Aldum Davis' only child by his "last" wife Mary nee Adams) the other; secondly, that they had agreed to partition their inheritance; thirdly, that Matthew Davis' wife Elizabeth Davis [II] would become entitled to his share through dower; and fourthly, that M. Davis had agreed that he and his heirs alone should pay the fee-farm rent and that a fence should be erected between the two halves: therefore, for 5/- paid to each of them, M. Davis and E. Davis [I] entrusted Thomas Noxon (of Coventry, schoolmaster) with (a) a messuage on the northern side of Much Park Street near New Gate's site, having a 10-foot frontage, lying between a corporation house then or late occupied by the widow Sarah Haynes to the east and a tenement formerly A. Davis' but by then his daughter the widowed Ann Ascough's on the west, divided from that to the west by Ann Ascough's entry which also led to other tenements, the messuage itself having been formerly inhabited by A. Davis and John Rise but then by E. Davis [I] and J. Rise; (b) a "ground room" which A. Davis had used as a comb shop and which adjoined the back of (a); (c) two brick houses, of which that on the western side of the yard was then tenanted by Thomas Sorrow, whereas that at the other end of the yard was let to Thomas Noxon but had been recently used as a coach house; and (d) waste ground, 9 feet broad and "rather better than 20 feet long", near T. Noxon's house (though between them lay A. Ascough's' waste ground), divided into two equal portions, together with the yard and a house of office: subject to access to the yard, house of office and Ascough's ground, so that Noxon would hold (a) (which comprised a kitchen, a parlour used as a lodging room, a chamber over the kitchen and part of the parlour and a cellar under the parlour), the lower or northern part of (d), use of the yard and privy and access to the street (paying proportionately for upkeep) to E. Davis [I]'s use and the rest (T. Sorrow's messuage consisted of a kitchen, back kitchen and two chambers thereover; Noxon's comprised a kitchen and parlour used as a lodging room, with like provision) be entrusted to Samuel Shakespeare (of Coventry, silk weaver) for five hundred years to indemnify E. Davis [I] against claims and from payment of the fee-farm rent, thereafter passing to M. Davis and his heirs.
VI 17 Feb 1767. Mortgage by Demise for 1,000 Years with Declaration of a Final Concord whereby, for £30 paid by Joseph Hewitt (of Coventry, gentleman [lawyer]) to James Kirk (of Coventry, worsted weaver), the latter and his wife Elizabeth (nee Davis) charged to Joseph Hewitt her interest in the premises for redemption of £30 at £5% per annum inrerest on 17 Aug [1767]; the Kirks covenanted to levy a fine as of the previous Hilary or the next Easter Term (along with Thomas Ap Bowen and his wife Sarah) to John Cheney (of Coventry, silkman), so that the premises would enure to the mortgagee for the term and then to the Kirks and their appointees..
VII Hilary Term, 7 George III. Final Concord wherein John Cheney was plaintiff and James Kirk with his wife Elizabeth and Thomas Ap Bowen with his wife Sarah were deforciants for two messuages and two gardens, Holy Trinity and Saint Michael's parishes, Coventry.
VIII 21 Apr 1770. Release with Assignment of Mortgage by Demise for 1,000 Years whereby, having recited; firstly, VI, VII; secondly, that Joseph Hewitt acted as trustee because the £30 really belonged to the late George Porter (of Coventry, flaxman); thirdly, that that sum was not repaid; fourthly, that £30/15/3.75 was due for principal and interest; and fifthly, that Robert Keene [I] had contracted to buy the premises for £50, whereout the debt would be paid: therefore (in consideration of payment by Robert Keene [I] of £34/15/3.75 to Samuel Oldham (of Coventry, silkman), John Cheney and Thomas Noxon qua George Porter's executors and £15/4/8.25 to James and Elizabeth Kirk, and of 5/- by Robert Keene [II] junior (as trustee) to the Kirks) the Kirks appointed the property to the Keenes; also, in consideration of the £34/15/3.75 and 5/-, Hewitt transferred the term to George Downes (of Coventry, painter).
IX 27-28 Jun 1776. Lease and Release with Assignment of Mortgage by Demise for 1,000 Years whereby, having recited: firstly, that Robert Keene [II] junior had agreed to buy the property for £90, therefore (in consideration of his paying that sum to Robert Keene [I] senior and of 5/- paid by Joseph Ford (of Coventry, carpenter) to each of Robert Keene [II] and Samuel Phillips as Robert Keene [I]'s trustees) R. Keene [I], R. Keene [II] and S. Phillips conveyed to Joseph Ford (a) IV's premises and (b) VIII's, to be held by him as R. Keene [II] might appoint; R. Keene [I] covenanted against encumbrance for twenty years: also, having recited, secondly, VIII, for 10/- George Downes transferred the term to John Bird (of Coventry, silk dyer) in trust for R. Keene [II]'s inheritance.
X 19-20 Jul 1776. Lease and Mortgage whereby, having recited: firstly, IX; and secondly, that Robert Keene [II] junior needed £160: therefore (in consideration of payment by Richard Hollland (of Coventry, watchmaker) of £160 to Robert Keene [II] and 5/- to Joseph Ford) R. Keene [II] and J. Ford charged the premises to Richard Holland for redemption at £5% per annum interest on 20 Jan [1778]; also, having recited, thirdly, VI and the vesting of that term in John Bird, Ford covenanted to stand seised for that.
XI 15-16 Apr 1778. Lease and Mortgage whereby, having recited: firstly, IX, X; secondly, payment-default; but thirdly, that the principal alone was due; therefore (in consideration of £150 paid by Nicholas Pinchback (of Coventry, gentleman) to Richard Holland and of 10/- by the former to Robert Keene [II] and Joseph Ford) R. Holland, R. Keene [II] and J. Ford charged to Nicholas Pinchback inter alia X's premises for £160 redeemable at £4/10/-% per annum interest on 16 Oct [1778]; John Bird covenanted to stand seised.
XII 9-10 Sep 1782. Lease and Release whereby, having recited: firstly, IX, XI; secondly, payment-default; thirdly, that Robert Keene [II] had died; fourthly, that William Windsor (of Coventry, carpenter) had contracted to buy the premises for £40; and fifthly, that Nicholas Pinchback (of Hungerley, Coventry, gentleman) had agreed to accept that £40 as full payment for all that was owed: therefore (in consideration of that sum and of 5/- paid by William Windsor and his trustee Thomas Fall (of Coventry, watchmaker) to each of Nicholas Pinchback, George Ridsdale (of London, upholsterer) and Thomas Payne (of Birmingham, Warwickshire, cabinetmaker) as Robert Keene [II] junior's assignees and to his widow "Ester" Keene of London) N. Pinchback, George Ridsdale and Thomas Payne conveyed the premises to W. Windsor and for 5/- Esther Keene released to him her interest.
XIII 31 Jul 1783. Mortgage by Demise for 1,000 Years whereby, for £200 paid to William Windsor and 5/- to Thomas Fall, they charged to Sarah Hands (of Chilvers Coton parish, Warwickshire, spinster) five adjacent messuages (built on the site of several old ones) on the northern side of Much Park Street near New Gate's site, having a 14-foot frontage (with an extreme length of 44 yards and 14 yards wide at the further end, having a messuage occupied by Robert "Whitteirng" to the east and one held by Ann Ascough to the west), then or late let to Daniel Dalton, Thomas Freckleton, John Worley, Ambrose Terry and - Price, for redemption of the £200 with lawful interest on 21 Jan [1784].
C As to the Whole of the Premises
XIV 25-26 Nov 1773. Lease and Release whereby, in return for her board and 5/-, Ann Goodall (of Coventry, widow) conveyed to Ephraim King (of Coventry, silkweaver) two Much Park Street messuages (formerly occupied by Jeremiah Bland and - Ward, then by - Loveridge and Joseph Hutt) which she inherited as widow of Jeremiah Goodall (of Coventry, corvisor) under his will [catalogued at CCA/2/3/19/7].
XV 9-10 Nov 1775. Lease and Release whereby, for £32 paid by Robert Keene [I] (of Coventry, carpenter) to Ephraim King, that man conveyed to Robert Keene [I] and Richard Mullis (of Coventry, collar maker) a messuage on the northern side of Much Park Street (theretofore occupied by John Carmolt, thereafter by - Loveridge but at that time or lately by Thomas Jobber), lying between a messuage on the east occupied by - and William Bradbury's on the west, which Jeremiah Goodall and his then wife Elizabeth bought from Coventry corporation [for Goodall's ex-corporation property threreabouts, cf. BA/A/B/28/2-6: BA/A/D/83/2; BA/A/D/87/1-4: BA/B/P/315/1; BA/B/P/316/2; BA/B/P/450/3-5: BA/D/L/13/3; BA/D/L/23/1]: to be held subject to 10/- annual fee-farm rent.
XVI 15-16 Aug 1776. Lease and Release whereby (for £32 which Robert Keene [I] senior acknowledged that he owed his trustee Richard Mullis and 5/- paid by John Bird (of Coventry, silk-manufacturer) to R. Mullis) Robert Keene [I] and Mullis conveyed XV's premises to John Bird as Mullis might appoint.
XVII 10 Sep 1782. Appointment whereby, having recited: firstly, XVI, since when Robert Keene [I] senior had paid Nicholas Pinchback his £32; and secondly, that William Windsor had agreed to buy the premises for £20 which would be paid to N. Pinchback in part discharge of the mortgage on adjacent property which the late Robert Keene [II] junior had intended to convey to that man and his trustee Thomas Fall: therefore, in consideration of the aforesaid £32 and 5/-, Richard Mullis appointed the premises to W. Windsor and T. Fall, and (in consideration of the £20 paid by Windsor to Robert Keene [I] and Pinchback and 5/- paid by Windsor and T. Fall to R. Keene [I], Ephraim King and his wife Alice) R. Keene [I] and the Kings conveyed the premises to Windsor and Fall; the Kings covenanted to levy a final concord as of the previous Trinity or next Michaelmas term with Edward Inge junior [attorney].
XVIII Trinity Term, 23 George III. Final Concord wherein Edward Inge junior was plaintiff and Thomas Sedgley with his wife Sarah, Joseph Sedgley, Mary Sedgley, Ephraim King with his wife Alice and Stephen Pollard [glover] were deforciants for two messuages, two cottages, one shop, one chamber, one cellar, four curtilages. two gardens and 1a. land, and three-quarters of one messuage, one garden and 5a. land in Foleshill and Saint Michael's parishes, Coventry.
XIX 22 Feb 1791. Assignment of Mortgage by Demise for 1,000 Years whereby, having recited: firstly, XIII; secondly, payment-default; and thirdly, that William Windsor (of Ashted, Aston-near-Birmingham parish, Warwickshire, builder) had agreed to discharge the £200 if the premises were assigned: therefore, in consideration of payment to Sarah Hands of £200 by William Windsor and 5/- by William Barnett (of King's Bromley, Staffordshire, gentleman), she transferred XIII's premises to William Barnett in trust to attend the inheritance.

XXII 2 Jul 1805. Richard Hodierne was buried at Saint Michael's intestate, leaving his eldest son Thomas as his heir at law.
