Whereby, having recited: firstly, that the corporation has agreed that each of the Coventrians Richard Hanson Tilt (schoolmaster), William Clayton (victualler) and Thomas Clayton (bookkeeper) should receive £50 of Sir Thomas White's loan money for nine years; and secondly, that Richard Hanson Tilt and William Clayton [shown here as "senior"] have undertaken to give security for their own loans and Thomas Clayton's:therefore {in consideration of those loans and of 5/- paid to each of Richard H. Tilt, W. Clayton and their trustee Robert Arnold (of Coventry, victualler)) R.H. Tilt, W. Clayton and Robert Arnold charge to Nathan Norman [silkman], John Williamson [builder], Thomas Butterworth [currier] and William Stanbridge [silkman] (all of Coventry, aldermen) (a) a new messuage on the northern side of Much Park Street near where New Gate stood, with a frontage of 4 yards 1 foot 10 inches; and (b) twelve messuages behind (a) - the overall depth of the site is 44 yards and its width 14 feet, having a house formerly occupied by Robert Wittering to the east, with a passage to (b) and to messuages lately William Windsor's to the west; W. Windsor built (a) and (b) on part of the site of old houses which he had bought; there is common use of the said passage with the owners and occupiers of two messuages which Richard Hodierne purchased; these thirteen were formerly inhabited by - Watts (widow), - Wyrley (widow), Hannah Nicklin, Sarah Brunner, Sarah Kidd, Thomas Ward, Henry Bonsor, Samuel Moore, Thomas Flood, - Hands (widow), William Latham, James Reeves, John Hewitt, - Dalton (wdow) and Thomas Holton but are now or late let to Thomas "Willson", Basil Oliver, Widow Clements, Thomas Clarke, - Chattaway, Widow Ward, John Robinson, Edward Cave, James Hogden [sic], Mary "Lowen", Thomas Baker, John Clarke, Thomas Davis, James Pollard, Thomas Smith, Nathaniel "Barns", Elizabeth Brown, James Smith, James Green, Thomas Jobber, Mary Sadler, Sarah Talton, Thomas Holton and Samuel Lewin - all were ultimately conveyed to the late John Parker by lease and release dated 16-17 Jul 1799 (wherein Samuel Barnett was of the first part, Alexander Forrest and John Rotten of the second and J. Parker of the third) which R. Tilt and W. Clayton bought from George Parker and Frances Parker (under deeds dated 4-5 Feb 1811 wherein [G.] Parker was of the first part, F. Parker of the second and Tilt, W. Clayton and R. Arnold of the third): to be held by Nathan Norman et al provided that Tilt repay his £50 loan on 31 Dec 1820 or do so within one calendar month of his leaving the city earlier or his executors doing so within one month of his death before then; W. Clayton shall do likewise, and those two will ensure that J. Clayton acts similarly; Tilt and W. Clayton covenant to insure the premises with the Sun Fire Office for at least £150.
