A member of the Weavers' Company in 1750 (see PA100/8/422) and warden in 1752 (see PA100/8/424), Oldham had land at Exhall (see PA101/127). He was a sheriff in 1750 (see PA1484/77/386). In 1760 he was made a Bond's Hospital trustee. A chamberlain, 1746. Qua Bond's Hospital trustee see BA/D/D/29/1. He was corporation treasurer, fl 1759-61 (BA/A/B/9/1; BA/B/P/106/1), feoffee of the New Court, Gosford Street (BA/A/B/26/1; BA/A/B/27/12-14) and an executor of Ezekial Kendrick (1767 - BA/A/G/24/5) and George Porter (1770 - BA/D/A/33/6). He tenanted a corporation Far Gosford Street close and tenements (1762ff - BA/A/D/36/1) and part of the Cheylesmore estate (1762-71 - BA/G/A/15/3). See BA/A/G/26/57. See M.J. As a Bond's Hospital trustee see PA54/8/19; PA54/18/3; PA54/20/1; PA54/21/1; PA54/23/1; PA54/25/2; PA54/27/2; PA54/29/2; PA54/32/2; PA54/33/2; PA54/34/16. As an executor of his father Thomas (q.v.), 1756-71, see CCA/2/3/156/13; CCA/2/3/434/10-11; CCA/2/3/463/16: PA54/4/2. He bought in 1759 the "Cranes" inn in Bishop Street, closes outside Cook Street Gate and a close near Radford which he bequeathed (1771) to his namesake nephew the tanner (CCA/2/3/203/17-20 (will); CCA/2/3/233/7(n): PA56/48/1.I,II). A trustee of the marriage settlement of Ann Lemon, 1768-69 (CCA/2/3/312/2: PA56/86/1.VI,VII). He was himself a nephew and executor of the Thomas Hunt who was mayor in 1735 and 1742 (PA56/91/2). In 1747 he was a participant in the indenture of return for the city M.P.s (PA96/59/7). He was among those who swore the return of writ for the election of the Honourable Andrew Archer and James Hewitt (qq.v.) as Members of Parliament for Coventry, 1761 - see PA1484/61/2. See PA1484/77/872. PA2248/1/1.X,XI show that in 1769 Oldham bought Much Park Street property and built warehouses on the site. CCA/2/3/34/4 refers to his purchase of Whitefriars' Lane property in 1767 along with Edward Freeman (q.v.). Oldham received 10gn. under his relative Catherine Smith(q.v.)'s 1770 will (CCA/2/3/426/2) and was thereby a trustee of money held to promote her deceased husband Samuel's charity.
