A cornmerchant (so nicknamed "Seedy") with a nursery at Chapelfields, where he held Sir Thomas White's Charity land (see PA56/130/5(ac),6,7), Weare represented Bishop St. Ward, was sheriff in 1812 (see PA101/131/1,2) and mayor in 1824; the old council chamber was repaired in 1826, and when he left the chief magistracy in 1827 a memorial window to Weare was placed in the Great Hall of St. Mary's Hall. See PA101/1/311: PA373/9. PA196/1 shows Weare in 1828 acting as a J.P.. See PA14/5/63,64; PA14/6/97,183,189,211; PA14/7/14,15; PA14/10/14,65. A chamberlain, 1802. Weare occupied Sheriffs' Orchard (1803-11:- BA/D/A/12/6: PA56/130/5(av) and cf. CCA/2/3/582/2-5 (1820-26): PA491/94/1) and Chapelfields lands (1802 - BA/D/A/49/25), and some at Hearsall (1803 - PA56/130/5(aj)). On the city council, 1811-33. In 1819 he supplied Bond's Hospital, though PA54/100/20 does not make it clear with what. Qua Sir Thomas White's Charity trustee, see PA500/41/1.Weare was supposed to have demolished St. Mary Magdalen's Chapel, Chapelfields in 1804 - see PA506/235/56. Nurseryman and seedsman, Cross Cheaping; house; Hertford Terrace (1830). Dying in 1833, Weare owned Bull Fields and Quarry Close (PA56/69/1.I) and Pit Fields (PA2701/1.I), all Butts. Mortgage-assignee for premises near Whitefriars' Mill, 1811-25 (PA56/74/1.V-VII). See PA56/91/21. He was a road-improvement trustee, 1824 (PA56/101/1.XX). Weare supplied plants for the Drapers' Company's estate and fruit for its table, 1802-12 (PA468/4/3/10/24; PA468/4/3/20/37). In 1804 Weare bought Great Butcher Row property - see CCA/2/3/157/56.
