This weaver owned a house on the northern side of Much Park Street from 1752 until 1772 - see PA202/8/2.I-III. A city warden, 1758. Cf. PA539/2/2: PA553/3/2. He had a Sir Thomas White's Charity nine years' loan, 1752 (CCA/2/3/440/12: PA1681/27/1.XXXVII). In 1764 Whittem tenanted a Billing's Charity house in Gosford Street - see PA489/4/40/3-4; PA489/4/45/4 (1752). He was among those who swore the return of writ for the election of the Honourable Andrew Archer and James Hewitt (qq.v.) as Members of Parliament for Coventry, 1761 - see PA1484/61/2. See PA1484/77/549, 580, 599, 602, 608. Whittem was described as "senior" when he was trustee for Cross Cheaping/Women's Market Place premises, 1766 - see CCA/2/3/180/17-18. PA2816/2/3(c) shows that Whittem had land at Whitefriars' Lane in 1777. Involved in Town Court litigation, 1761-76 (see BA/E/K/110/337,391). CCA/2/3/200/4 is a copy of his 1759 marriage settlement.
