A As to Part of the Property
I 20 Jan 1902. Conveyance whereby, having recited: firstly, that Robert Arnold Dalton (of Coventry, esq. [ribbon-manufacturer] and Justice of the Peace) by his 9 Sep 1892 will appointed his [ribbon-manufacturer] nephew Charles Edward Barton (who predeceased him), Walter Turrall (in 1902 described as of Coventry, [ribbon-]manufacturer), Charles Dalton Turrall (in 1902 of Northam, Devon, [ribbon-]manufacturer) and John Platts Hughes (in 1902 of Coventry, auctioneer) executors and trustees for sale of his residuary estate; secondly, that the testator died on 10 Jan 1893 and that, with an immaterial codicil, his will was proved at Birmingham on 13 Mar [1893]; thirdly, that Robert A. Dalton had possessed the premises; and fourthly, that on 8 Aug 1901 the Charity Commission consented to that deed's purchase: therefore for £1,000 Walter Turrall, Charles Dalton Turrall and John Platts Hughes conveyed to John Gulson [banker] and John Rotherham [watch-manufacturer] (esqs.), John Bill (silk broker), William Hillman (cycle manufacturer), Arthur Edward Jagger (silkman) and Richard Botham Caldicott (ribbon-manufacturer), all of Coventry, Sir Thomas White's Charity trustees, property on the southwestern side of Allesley Old Road, Saint Michael's parish, Coventry, covering 21a. 3r. 23p., as scheduled, edged in pink on a plan reproduced herewith.
II 24 Nov 1902. Enrolment of I in Central Office of the Supreme Court of Judicature.
III 3 Mar 1902. Enrolment of I in the books of the Charity Commissioners.
IV 25 Dec 1904., John Gulson died.
V 21 May 1905. John Rotherham died.

B As to the Remainder of the Property
VI 29 Sep 1906. Conveyance whereby, having recited: firstly, Robert Arnold Dalton's will regarding appointment of new trustees; secondly, his death and probate; thirdly, that he possessed the hereditaments absolutely; fourthly, that on 25 May 1905 Charles Dalton Turrall appointed Edward Turrall (in 1906 described as of Coventry, [ribbon-]manufacturer) and Edgar Turrall (in 1906 of Coundon Hall near Coventry, [ribbon-]manufacturer) as fellow trustees because Walter Turrall and John Platts Hughes were resigning; fifthly, a 17 Aug 1906 endorsement upon the 1905 deed's original that, because doubts had arisen about the validity of that transaction under the terms of Robert Arnold Dalton's will, both the old and the new sets of trustees confirmed the arrangement and entrusted George Francis Twist [of Coventry, solicitor] with the residuary estate on behalf of the new trustees; and sixthly that, with the Charity Commissioners' 21 Aug 1906 consent, Charles Dalton Turrall (of Northam, Devon, gentleman), Edward Turrall and Edgar Turrall had contracted to sell lands to John Bill (of Coventry, silk merchant), William Hillman (of Keresley near Coventry, "manufacturer"), Arthur Edward Jagger (of Coundon near Coventry, silkman) and Richard Botham Caldicott (of Coventry, ribbon-manufacturer), Sir Thomas White's Charity trustees: therefore for £9,351 Charles Dalton Turrall et al conveyed to John Biil et al (b) [sic] land (11a. 1r. 34p.) which adjoined (a) on the east, edged in red on a reproduced plan.
Schedule - Part I: field (11a. 1r. 34p.) of old pasture land, formerly two closes known as Upper Guppel [Guphill] Ford Close and Lower Guppel Ford Close, fronting the Allesley Old Road.
VII 9 Oct 1906. Enrolment of VI in Central Office of the Supreme Court of Judicature.
VIII 22 Nov 1906. Enrolment of VI in the books of the Charity Commissioners.
IX 28 Feb 1916. John Bill died.
X 5 Jun 1916. Richard Botham Caldicott died.
XI 10 Feb 1920. Arthur Edward Jagger died.

C As to the Whole of the Property
XII 23 Apr 1920. Order by Charity Commissioners noting that, following an application which the then trustees made on 2 Sep, 1919, therefore the commissioners had stated that William Hillman should be removed from the trusteeship and had appointed Charles Vernon Pugh ([cycle-]manufacturer, since deceased), Edward Mauger Iliffe, C.B.E. (of Allesley Park, publisher), Hugh Rotherham (of Keresley, [watch-]manufacturer), Edmund Oliver French ([screw-]manufacturer), William Fitzthomas Wyley (gentleman [chemist]) and Alec Turner (of 156, Earlsdon Avenue, [watch-]manufacturer), all of or from near Coventry, as trustees of scheduled lands.
Schedule: inter alia Whoberley Hall Farm and Allesley Old Road Farm (latter covering 42.5a.).
XIII 23 Aug 1921. Charles Vernon Pugh died.
XIV 23 Oct 1923. Order by the Charity Commissioners that the trustees might within twelve months sell that land for not less than £17,425, paying the purchase-money into the Official Trustee of Charitable Trusts' Account with the Bank of England.
Schedule: several pieces of land (together c.41a.) with four cottages thereon, bounded north by Allesley Old Road, south by the Maudslay Motor Co. Ltd.'s property, east by various owners', west by Guppel [Guphill] Lane.
XV 27 Aug 1929. Order (endorsed on XIV's original) by Charity Commissioners extending the period within which the land might be sold until 27 [Feb 1930].
XVI 24 Feb 1930. Conveyance whereby, having recited: firstly, that Sir Edward Mauger iliffe (formerly of Allesley Park, Allesley, Coventry; then of 16, Buckingham Street, Strand, London, knight, C.B.E.), Hugh Rotherham (of Keresley Grange, Keresley near Coventry, [watch-]manufacturer), Edmund Oliver French (of Hertford House, Coventry, [screw-]manufacturer), William Fitzthomas Wyley (of the Charterhouse, Coventry, gentleman [chemist]) and Alec Turner (of 278 (formerly 156), Earlsdon Avenue North, Coventry, [watch-]manufacturer), Sir Thomas White's Charity trustees, possessed the premises; secondly, that they had agreed to sell the land to Wiliiam Henry Jones (of Coventry, builder); thirdly, that it had been agreed that William Henry Jones should enter into that deed's covenants; fourthly and fifthly, XIV, XV; and sixthly, that William H. Jones had paid all Sir Edward Mauger Iliffe et al's legal costs: therefore for £17,425 Edward Mauger Iliffe et al conveyed to W.H. Jones IV's scheduled land, edged in pink on a reproduced plan (part occupied by [the farmer] Frederick Green, part by [the auctioneer] Fred. Billing; the four cottages tenanted by William Wyatt, Selina Birch, Herbert Warren and Fred. Billing): W. Jones covenanted not to use or erect buildings for sale of intoxicating liquors or fried fish or conduct noxious trades; no caravans or funfairs would be allowed, nor the burning of bricks or lime, nor the excavation of minerals; Jones should erect a boundary fence where there was none already; he should maintaian that part of Guphill Lane which was shown brown on the plan but would only be liable for the eastern half thereof if Edward Mauger Iiffe et al were to sell their land on its western side to somebody else; he would enjoy no right of light.
XVII 24 Feb 1930. Acknowledgement by the trustees of William Henry Jones' right to see scheduled deeds.
