[Former references: Inclosures 4 (part), 8.] Made under an Act of the fourteenth year of George III [copy in "Five Private Acts" in searchroom library at reference 323.38] which appointed as commissioners [Reverend] Henry Homer of Birdingbury, John Newcomb[e] of Brinklow and John Brothers of Hungerley (all Warwickshire) to investigate the survey by Thomas Eagle (of Allesley, Warwickshire) of 795a. 3r. 24p., resulting in the plan [PA46/1] (which relates hereto, whereon this award's enclosures are shown in Roman numerals and old ones in italics, leaseholds of twenty years or more in red ink, those for a lesser period in black) and moving around the parish from east to south, west and north, hence, primarily, the public, wagon and drift roads are:- (a) a drift road [Foleshill Road] from Holy Trinity parish, Coventry (which leaves Foleshill at the eastern end of "But" Lane which leads into Exhall at the northeastern corner of "Massards Wast)", which is part of the Coventry-Nuneaton turnpike; (b) a road [Stoney Stanton Road] which enters from Holy Trinity parish at the western end of Red Lane and continues via the northeastern corner of John Judd's allotment number 276, over Hugh, Lord Clifford's allotment number 46 to a navigation bridge and thence over the southeastern side of Court House Green to Bell Green Rock and leads into (c); (c) a road from Wyken Lane End to Bell Green [Henley Road], thence to Hall Green [Hall Green Road], over the eastern side of Alderman's Green [Alderman's Green Road] and into Bulkington Lane in [Walsgrave-on-]Sow[e] parish; (d) a road [Jacker's Road] from the gate leading into Church Field at Mary Smith's houses which form old enclosure number 132, proceeding between Joshua Clewer's and Edward Dennis' lands, over Richard Hopkins, esq.'s allotment number 225, then between allotments belonging to William Slingsby, Joseph Perkins and George Eld into Mary Wilson's allotment number 429 to another gate which leads out of Church Field into the turnpike at the gravel pit; (e) a road [Old Church Road] from Bell Green along the southern side of Church Field, thence along the southeastern corner of Three Well Field to the navigation bridge on Little Heath, so between the several allotments on each side thereof to the pound, and over the northern side of Joseph Sutton's allotment number 365 into the turnpike; (f) a road [Lythalls Lane south of Bedlam Lane] from the turnpike at the southeastern corner of John Liggins' allotment [number 302], over Henry Greswold Lewis, esq.'s allotment number 424, up to his barn (occupied by Edward Stafford), thence over William Smith's allotment number 363, over Thomas Hunt, esq.'s allotments numbers 243, 241, 240 and 242 to William Whiting's allotment number 422, thence [Bedlam Lane] to Lower Rowley's Green and along the southern side thereof, and thence to a lane which leads into Exhall lordship at the northern corner of the Clothiers' Company's allotment number 143; (g) a road [Lythalls Lane west of Bedlam Lane] branching out of (f) and going over Thomas Hunt's allotments numbers 240, 241 and 237 into the public road "leading by Holbrook" into Exhall lordship; (h) a road [Wheelwright Lane] branching out of the same [(f)] at Lower Rowley's Green, thence to Upper Rowley's Green and to another lane which leads into Exhall near the northern corner of the Butchers' Company's old enclosure number 277; (i) a road [Sydnall Road] from the navigation bridge in the turnpike at Longford to Mary Carpenter's house, thence into Exhall at the northern side of her allotment number 71 on Woodshires Green; (j) a road [Lockhurst Lane] branching from the turnpike near the first milestone from Coventry and proceeding between several allotments and intakes to the southwestern corner of Richard Hopkins' allotment number 233, including that in the "crack" [described as a goose pit at septarily (w) hereinafter] between allotments numbers 32 and 34, thence over Richard Hopkins', Sir Thomas White's Charity's trustees', William Smart's and Thomas Hunt's allotments on the northeastern side of the road [Holbrook Lane] as far as the northern end of T. Hunt's allotment number 237, thence between several allotments and enclosures to a lane near the northern end of Henry Goode's allotment number 136 and so into Exhall; (k) a road [Parkgate Road] branching out of (j) against Thomas Hunt's allotment number 234, thence between allotments and old enclosures to Penny Park Gate, Saint Michael's parish, Coventry; (l) a road [Kingfield Road] branching out of the same road [(j)] between allotments numbers 309 and 447 and proceeding to the southeastern end of Locker's [Lockhurst] Lane; (m) a road [Hen Lane] branching out of [(j)] against Thomas Hunt's allotment number 442 and proceeding to the western end of Hen Lane; and (n) a road [Broad Street] branching out of the turnpike near the former "Boat" public house between allotments on either side and going into the public road from Coventry to Bell Green - all these roads are 60 feet broad: secondarily, public bridle and drift, and private wagon and drift, roads:- (a) a bridle and drift road [Station Street West] 35 feet broad, branching out of the turnpike at the southern corner of William Carpenter's allotment number 78 and going over Thomas Butlin's allotment number 17, between allotments numbers 324 and 138, over W. Carpenter's allotment number 79, to the southern corner of William Judd's allotment number 288, thence over the southern side of Richard Hopkins' allotment number 233, down the public road leading to Holbrook[s], now enjoyed by contiguous owners and occupiers and by those of a farm in Holy Trinity parish which Richard Hill, esq. owns and William Boddington tenants, being "of farther breadth" against Thomas Morris' new intake u4 and Mary Croft's t4 for more convenient access and also where there is a pool near the roadway for the use of the inhabitants; (b) a road [Windmill Road] "of the breadth it now is", branching out of the Hall Green road into the turnpike at a gate which leads into Church Field through Foxford to Three Lanes End at Isaac Carpenter's house; (c) a road [Hurst Road], 30 feet broad in most parts, branching out of the public road over Aldermans Green opposite Jackers Lane End, leading through the same into Coney Lane, thence making an angle down to Three Lanes End at Isaac Carpenter's house, and so making another angle to the turnpike road at Longford; and (d) a 30-foot road [Grange Road] from the northwestern end of Jackers Lane, down to Richard Hopkins' allotment number 217, over that allotment to the canal bridge, and over his allotment number 218 to the eastern end of Green Lane - (c),(d) to be used by contiguous landholders incliding those of Green Lane property, of lands in Sydnall Field, and by persons conveying coals from the pit near Hawkesbury into any part of Foleshill to the part of Exhall to which Green Lane leads: tertiarily, private wagon and drift roads:- (a) a road 30 feet wide which leads from a gate in Thomas Itchenor's old enclosure, over Hugh, Lord, Clifford's allotment number 45, along the canal bank, and into the public road at the canal bridge, for the use of the owners and occupiers of T. Itchenor's farm in Wyken parish and of the said allotment; (b) a road 30 feet wide leading from the Coventry-Bell Green road at the northwestern corner of allotment number 46, over John Judd's allotments numbers 276 and 275 to the gate which leads to Crab Mill House, thence by "the old inclosure" to new intake x3; (c) a 30-foot road branching out of (b) and going over the southern side of allotment number 46 which belongs to Hugh, Lord Clifford, thence making an angle southward between allotments and intakes down to the canal bank and along it to Thomas Dodd senior's house; (d) a 10-foot drift road which, leading out of the public road which goes from the turnpike to the road to Holbrook, this one being at the angle thereof, continues on the southwestern side of William Judd's allotment number 289, over Richard Hopkins' allotment number 233 and so to new intakes o4 and p4 at the northern corner of allotment number 288; (e) a 30-foot road branching out of the public road to Holbrook, going over allotment number 233, "upwards" between allotments numbers 395 and 412 near Thomas Tinsley's house, thence making an angle, and continuing 15 feet broad southward to the western corner of William Smith's old enclosure and allotment number 403 occupied by John Liggins; (f) a 30-foot road branching out of (e) along the western side of new intakes n4 and m4, thence extending to Abel Aldridge's allotment number 11, to the foot road through Richard Hopkins' allotment number 210 as far as Charles Taylor's new intake r4; (g) a 30-foot road branching out of the road which leads from Bell Green to the turnpike near a navigation bridge on the eastern side, itself passing thence southwards between several intakes and allotments to a "rail place" at Elliott's and Kettle's old enclosure and R. Hopkins' allotment No. 229; (h) a 23-foot road out of the turnpike at Longford at the southeastern corner of Thomas Hunter's allotment number 259, going between that one and Joseph Haines' number 143, to the south of George Toone's house, thence making an angle northward to the canal at Edward Hurst's house; (i) a 20-foot road from the turnpike at Longford, going between allotments numbers 396 and 453 up to a passage at the southern end of William Young's house, thence making an angle southward to a garden or old enclosure number 288 and another northward to the southeasterm corner of allotment number 143, thence westward to a garden or old enclosure numbered 281 - (b)-(i) are for the use of the owners and occupiers of the adjacent properties; (j) a 20-foot road from Church Lane over [Reverend] Samuel Brookes' allotment number 413 and allotment number 356, down to the school house, for the use of that building's owners and occupiers and for Samuel Brookes, but to be used as a public road from Church Lane as far as a stile into the churchyard; (k) a 20-foot road from the turnpike at Longford near a navigation bridge, over allotments numbers 398 to William Tame, 245 to Edward Hurst, 403 to George Toone, 326 to Elizabeth Neale, 286 to Francis Lacey and 339 to Francis Pickard, thence into Joseph Holmes' allotment number 146, for the use of the respective owners and occupiers; (l) a road which is generally 20 feet broad but otherwise around a pool, going from the eastern end of Collins' Charity trustees' allotment number 50 near Edward Dennis' houses, into the public road at Upper Rowley's Green; (m) a 20-foot road from the public road over Alderman's Green, over Richard Hopkins' allotment number 214 to Thomas Green's allotment number 135; (n) a 20-foot road out of the public road on Alderman's Green between allotments numbers 440 and 120 and going to William Rolleston's house, thence to old enclosure number 87 which belongs to Richard Hopkins - (l)-(n) are for the use of the respective landholders; (o) a 10-foot road from the turnpike at Longford, going over the northern end of Joseph Perkins' allotment number 335 to the door of William Tame's stable, for W. Tame's use and the stable's occupier's; (p) a 10-foot road from the bridle road which leads from the turnpike to the road to Holbrook[s], starting at the southern corner of allotment number 289 and going over Thomas Brooks' allotment number 35 to a passage between ancient intakes numbers 129 and 130, leading into old enclosures of William Smith, making an angle southeastwards to a gate leading into new intake q4, for respective use of the holders of the allotment and other properties; (q) a 10 foot road leading out of the public road to Holbrook[s] at the northern end of allotment number 445, thence by an angle to the north between intakes and houses belonging to William Worcester, Thomas Butler and John Brinsden, to the southeastern corner of the lastnamed's intake, then westward to Sir Thomas White's Charity trustees' old enclosures and Mrs. Catherine Walter's, for the respective landholders' uses; (r) a 10-foot road from the public road to Holbrook[s], going between allotments numbers 33 and 420 to intake q4, for the use of the intakes' holders; (s) a 15-foot road leading out of the public road to Holbrook[s] between allotments numbers 282 and 283, thence widening northward to Joseph Judd's house, extending westward to Sir Thomas White's Charity's trustees' old enclosures, for the use of the holders of the old allotment, J. Judd's house and intake h4; (t) a 10-foot road leading from the turnpike road, over William Ward's allotment number 444, to the road which divides ancient intake number 112 and thence leading into Richard Hopkins' old enclosure number 415, for the use of these lands' holders; (u) a 20-foot road branching out of the turnpike at the former "Boat" inn and leading into the road to Bell Green Rock between allotment number 392 and new intake b4, to John Smith's ancient cottage and intake number 107, thence narrowing and making an angle eastward to allotment number 391, westward to allotment number 393, for the use of the respective landholders; (v) a 20-foot road leading out of the public road over Court House Green between allotments numbers 305 and 66 to the end of a lane which leads to the workhouse, for the use of contiguous landholders and those with houses reached by the lane; (w) a 15-foot road leading out of the public road near Court House Green against allotment number 344, over Hugh, Lord Clifford's allotment number 45 to a gate which leads a homestead which that peer owns but Richard Swain occupies, for the use of the holders of old enclosures and Coventry corporation's old enclosures numbers 259-261 and the holder of allotment number 45; (x) a 10-foot road from the public road over Court House Green, over Thomas Strong's allotment number 382 to ancient intake number 102 [detected under ultraviolet light], for the use of the allotment's and intake's owners; (y) a 12-foot road from the public road to Holbrook[s], going over the southern side of allotment number 421 which has been made to the Sir Thomas White's Charity trustees, to Mrs. Rhoda Lucas' old enclosure called the Stripe, for their respective uses; (z) a 10-foot road branching out of the public road at Bell Green between allotments numbered 4 and 360, proceeding to William Riley's stable and slaughterhouse, being new intake t, thence in a straight line to Mary Smith's house, making an angle southeastward by several houses and intakes to Robert Garrett's allotment number 134, for adjacent holders' uses; (aa) a 10-foot road leading out of the public road at Bell Green along the northwestern side of allotment number 414 to James Wagstaffe and his old enclosure number 173, thence making an angle to the house and premises of Edward Langford, for the landholders' respective uses; (ab) a 10-foot road leading out of the public road at Bell Green between allotments numbers 321 and 129 to William Greenwood's house, for that property's holders' benefit and that of the occupiers of other houses there; and (ac) a 10-foot road from the turnpike, over the southern side of John Sedgley's allotment number 381 to his house, for the use of those premises' holder - ancient roads not otherwise specified shall remain, except that Lady Lane at Longford, Wood Lane, and the lane from Court House Green between Moses Miller's enclosure number 243 and Hugh, Lord Clifford's enclosure number 242 need not remain in existence as roads so they have been allotted to the proprietors, whilst a private wagon and drift road to Little Sydnall Field and public bridle and private wagon and drift way on the northwestern side thereof are to continue as they have done to facilitate coal-extraction (vide infra [at the octary disposition]): quaternarily, public footways:- (a) a way from the public road to Court House Green over Richard Swain's allotment number 367 to a stile in Thomas Itchenor's old enclosure number 239; (b) a way leading out of the public bridle road from Alderman's Green to Longford opposite Thomas Hewitt's house, over allotments numbers 254, 256, 229, 433, 25, 258 and 244 into the turnpike road at Longford; (c) a way from the turnpike road near John Parrish's house and over the western side of allotments adjoining the turnpike between J. Parish's house and Exhall lordship; (d) a way from the public road at the gate which leads into Church Field by Mary Smith's house, over the northeastern ends of allotments numbers 80, 24, 280, 308, 316, 337, 139, 349 and 336 to a stile in Mrs. Mary Wilson's meadow number 124, leading to Longford; (e) a way from "a style place" at the northeastern end of John Wright's ancient cottages, over the eastern side of allotments numbers 332, 300, 24, 297 and 225, into the public road which leads to Hall Green, at the southeastern corner of Arthur Judd's old enclosure number 137; (f) a way from the same stile, over the southern side of allotments numbers 332, 439 and 7 into the public road from Bell Green by the church to the turnpike road and out over a small part of the southern end of allotment number 413, thence along the southern side of allotment number 9 to a stile which leads again into the same public road at William Atkins' house; (g) a way from the same public road to Hall Green, over allotment number 225, by the southern side of close number 137, bending southwestwards thereover and across allotment number 413 to the gate which leads into Foleshill churchyard's eastern side; (h) a way from the same stile at William Atkins' house, over the western sides of allotments numbers 9, 413a and 413, to the said churchyard gate; (i) a way from the turnpike on the southern side of the canal bridge in Three Well Field, over allotments numbers 52 and 242 into the public road leading from the turnpike to Lower Rowley's Green at the bottom corner of "the Hostage" [recte Hermitage?]; (j) a way leading out of (i) near the northern corner of old enclosure number 370 called the Ridings, over a small part of allotment number 242, thence over the western side of allotment number 112 into part thereof called the Haunch Meadow, across to a stile in Elliott's and Kettle's old enclosure number 320, and thence from the stile in their old enclosure number 300 over the eastern end of their allotment number 111; (k) a way from the eastern end of the lane against Edward Dennis' old enclosure number 297, over Collins Charity 's trustees' allotment number 51 to a stile in Phillips Farmer et al's old enclosure number 296; (l) a way 5 links [a link was 0.6 foot, so this way is in fact 3 yards wide] broad from a gate on the churchyard's westward side, over allotments numbers 413, 428 and 429 to the turnpike road against allotment number 260; and (m) a way 5 links broad leading out of the public road at Bell Green over Hugh, Lord Clifford's allotment number 43 to a stile in his old enclosure number 199: quintarily, private footways:- (a) a way 2 links broad leading out of Causeway Lane, over Mary Moore's allotment number 322 to the widow Dennis' house, for those women's use and that of those properties' future owners; and (b) a 2-link way leading out of the turnpike over the southern side of Parrott & Co.'s allotment number 402 down to the boat house, for its owner's use: sextarily, allotments in lieu of tithe:- (a) to Richard Hopkins (besides what is awarded [septarily] below in compensation for his holdings in the common fields), parcel number 210 (9a. 1r. 15p.) on Great Heath (bounded by Rhoda Lucas' old enclosures numbers 397 and 398, by new intake k4, by ancient cottage and intake number 124, by Abel Aldridge's allotment number 11* [* means that that particular boundary's fence had to be maintained by the person(s) to whom the land thus described was allotted, in this case Hopkins], by a private road* to the said allotment, by allotment number 395* made to John Smith and by R.
