Describing the air raid on Coventry and its aftermath - bombing and gunfire for 11 hours, bombs dropped nearby, unexploded landmine on top of road, evacuation to Southbank Road schools, "nightmare" car ride to there, school damaged, gas, water and electricity went off at 10pm; fires still burning at Alvis and Carbodies on following day; description of the landmine; bomb fell on Mary Hookway's flat and occupants trapped in debris; deaths of their chimney sweep, and Miss Lampit and Mr Blagburn; destruction of Smithford Street, "The Rudge", Queen Victoria Street, "The Rialto", the "Rex" cinema, the Alvis; soldiers clearing up; school now open again; Brian's 4th birthday in the shelter whilst the air raid was going on; now cooking on the fire, had a rabbit; much of time spent in the shelters, children sick; list of present received by Brian.
