This capper was mayor in 1573; in 1590 he had property in Allesley, Coundon and Coventry. Bowne was a sheriff in 1564. Bowne was an overseer of the 1570 (N.S.) will of William Hopkins (q.v.) - see PA441. He was a Bond's Hospital feoffee, 1584 (see PA9/2). At some time Bowne had a West Orchard house (see PA214/1/19), and one at Jordan Well in 1574 (see PA214/1/20). An Oken's Estate feoffee, 1564 (PA266/3) but dead by 1597 (PA56/93/1: PA266/2). Bowne was a feoffee of the Priory estate (1574ff - BA/B/A/25/7: PA56/99/1,2,5: PA96/12/1; PA96/60/1) and for a Bayley Lane tenement (1570 - BA/A/D/3/1,2), the Mayor's Parlour (1574-91: BA/B/J/7/3,6), Pinley land (1580: BA/B/P/432/1-3) and a Warwick Lane garden (1574 - BA/D/K/5/1). He had Madams Hall, etc. in Great Butcher Row (1573 - BA/A/D/53/2), Gosford St. land (BA/B/P/217/1) and Spon End land (BA/D//49/30), also a Burges tenement (1570 - BA/A/B/6/1). For the Coundon estate, see BA/D/A/20/1. In 1585 Bowne had Bishop St. land - see PA1516/4/1. Active on the city council, 1568-69, 1573-85. In 1585 he was a Coxon's Charity feoffee - see PA54/333/4.
