A As to Part thereof
I 15-16 May 1807. Lease and Release whereby, for £300, John Carr (of Coventry, whitener and presser), as empowered by a 17 Sep 1801 release, appointed to John [I] Howe (of Coventry, dyer), as he did for10/- to William Newcomb (of Coventry, whitener and presser), 1a. 3r. 28p. of Crow Lane Meadow (bounded north by a back brook from the River Sherbourne, east by a carriage-road from the bottom of Crow Lane to Crow Moat Meadow, south and west by the Sherbourne), successively occupied by (1) William Scott [innholder], (2) John Kirkman (silkman) and the dyer Jonathan Abell, (3) Thomas Carr [dyer] and then (4) John Carr, with right of road as in PA849/8/2-3: to be held by William Newcomb as John [I] Howe might appoint; moreover, having recited: firstly, that scheduled deeds related to J. Carr's title to Crow Moat Meadow, etc. as well; and secondly, that Crow Moat Meadow was of greater value than that deed's property so the deeds should stay with the vendor: therefore he covenanted to produce them for J. Howe.

II 13 Jan 1823. Will of John [I] Howe which left his son John [II] a messuage, dyehouse, etc at Crow Lane, along with what he had bought from William and Mary Newcomb and John Carr, also his Black Dyehouse built on what he had bought from William Newcombe's assigness; a £30 annuity for his wife Hannah during her widowhood was charged upon the same; named executors, Abraham Herbert and John Twist proved the will on 3 Nov 1826.

V 13 Jan 1823. John [I] Howe's will which left his wife Hannah inter alia two messuages, a small "shred" of land and a garden or shubbery near Spon Street, they passing after her time to Abraham Herbert and John Twist for sale.

C As to Other Part thereof
VII 28-29 Sep 1827 Lease and Release whereby, having recited: firstly, that John [II] Howe (of Coventry, silkdyer) had contracted to buy that deed's property for £2,600; and secondly, that William Lynes (of Coventry, ribbonweaver; eldest son and heir of Elizabeth Lynes (of Coventry, widow, the daughter of the late Edward Harrold of Coventry, silkdyer) who died intestate) was interested upon the death of his spinster-sister Mary in one-fifth of the premises, which he would convey upon being paid £1: therefore (in consideration of that £1, £2,599 paid to Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham and 5/- to Thomas Rotherham and William Lynes) the Rotherhams and W. Lynes conveyed to John [II] Howe (a) a messuage with garden on the southern side of Spon Street (successively occupied by Joseph Gibbons [soapboiler], John Carr, William Lowe [soapboiler], William Newcombe and then Richard Carter); (b) an adjacent yard with warehouse (severally occupied by R. Carter and William Keatley) and a "shop" (severally held by Thomas Barnacle, Matthew Davis, Richard Neale and - Crockford); (c) a messuage, in the yard and adjoining the southernmost of (b)'s tenements, itself lately held by William Crump; and (d) a garden adjoining (b),(c) (cultivated by Richard K. [I] Rotherham): to be held by J. [II] Howe with Joseph [I] Howe (of Coventry, silkdyer) as his trustee.
VIII 2 Mar 1836. Will of John [II] Howe (of Spon Street, Coventry, gentleman) which left John [III] Howe (the eldest son of his late brother Joseph [I] Howe of Spon Street, silkdyer) all the Spon Street property which he had inherited from his father and what he had bought from Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham, or by successive default to Joseph [I]'s second son Joseph [II] and Joseph [I] and his heirs, the testator's mother Hannah always occupying one dwelling rentfree: probate was granted on 5 Sep 1839.

X 9 Oct 1844. Release whereby, having recited: firstly, that on 5 Nov 1821 (in consideration of £150 paid to John Crockett, his wife Jane and James Shilton (in 1844 described as of Coventry, ribbonweaver) and of 5/- to John Bosworth) the Crocketts, James Shilton and John Bosworth mortgaged abstracting hereditaments and others at Foleshill, Coventry to Thomas Smith for one thousand years, with redemption on 5 May [1821]; secondly, that on 8 Feb 1836, with the principal alone due, Richard Campion (sole executor of Thomas Smith) assigned the term to Joseph Loveitt; thirdly, that on 5 Jul 1839 J. Loveitt did so likewise to Richard Coates (in 1844 of Coventry, victualler); fifthly that, on 22 May [1844], on James Shilton's behalf William Luke Crockett (of Leamington Priors, Warwickshire, yeoman) paid Richard Coates £200 for full purchase of the £239/1/6 debt then owed to the latter; fifthly, that Jane Crockett died on 29 May [1844] and was buried at Leamington Priors; sixthly, that J. Shilton had agreed to sell Thomas [II] Dalton (of Coventry, dyer) the premises for £170; and seventhly, that William Luke Crockett had received £185 through sale of the Foleshill land, so £67/3/4 only remained due to him: therefore (in consideration of £67/3/4 paid to William L. Crockett and £102/10/8 residuary purchase-money to Shilton) W.L. Crockett and Shilton conveyed to Thomas [II] Dalton (a) a messuage on the western side of Crow Lane formerly occupied by John Asplin; (b) a garden to the west of (a), adjoining Crow Lane at one end and a garden once William Peart's at the other, with egress from the lane; (c) two messuages on the western side of Crow Lane which adjoin (a) (formerly occupied by Richard Thornett and Robert Barnes); and (d) ground which, adjoining Crow Lane for 22 feet, was 54 feet 9 inches deep with access from the lane - (c),(d) were formerly occupied by Samuel Mallett, - Sammons and - Bond, but then by Thomas Mallett, Samuel Ashby and John Smallwood: moreover, having recited, eighthly, a 1 Sep 1821 indenture and final concord; and ninthly, that the deeds had been passed to William Eaves (of Coventry, broker) as purchaser of the largest part of the premises: therefore William Eaves covenanted to produce the indenture and fine and the recited mortgage and assignments, whilst for 5/- R. Coates assigned the premises to Bryan Dunn (of Coventry, currier) for the term's residue.

XIV 1 Mar 1851. Conveyance whereby, having recited: firstly, X; secondly, XI; thirdly, XIII; fourthly, that John Herbert died, and was buried at Saint Michael's on 24 Oct 1846; fifthly, that Samuel Newsome, Josiah Lewis and George Williamson as Thomas [II] Dalton's trade, and Frederick Whitmore as his official, bankruptcy assignees, had agreed to sell Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham senior (of Coventry, esq.) the premises for £450; and sixthly, that £5,000 was due with interest to the Coventry & Warwickshire Banking Company upon XI's conveyance in trust: therefore (in consideration of £450 paid by Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham senior to Thomas Lissaman (of Coventry, gentleman; submanager and cashier of the said bank) and 5/- apiece by F. Whitmore to John Ralphs [bank trustee], Thomas Banbury, Josiah Cash and Abraham Burbery Herbert (of Coventry, esqs.; bank directors) S. Newsome, J. Lewis and G. Williamson, and Whitmore) the bankruptcy assignees appointed and sold, and John Ralphs sold, to Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham X's premises with William Rotherham (of Coventry, printer and bookseller) as his trustee.
E As to the Whole of the Premises
XV 25 Jan 1860. Will of Richard Kevitt [I] Rotherham senior which left annuities of £5,000 to his wife Charlotte [I] and £50 to his niece Charlotte Carr, but his Crow Lane dyehouse, etc. with equipment to his sons John [I] and Richard Kevitt [II], appointing them executors along with the wife.
N.B.: The testator died on 2 Apr 1864 and his will was proved on 21 May 1864.
XVI 10 Dec 1864. Will of Richard Kevitt [II] Rotherham (of Coventry, esq.) which left his wife Lucy, his brother John [I] and his son George Charles his estate for sale.
XVII 19 Apr 1866. Irrelevant codicil.
XVIII 17 Jul 1886. Irrelevant codicil.
N.B.: The testator died on 2 Sep 1866 and his will and codicils were proved on 23 Jan 1867.
