Whereby, having recited that Humphrey Wightwick (of Coventry, grocer) by will left to Edward Stapleton (of Coventry, esq.), William Wheate (of Coventry, mercer) and Alexander Stapleton (of Stowe, Gloucestershire, gentleman) this deed's property, therefore (in consideration of £63/6/8 paid by Henry Harwell (of Coventry, mercer) and Nicholas Benson (of London, grocer) to George Abney (of "Wollesley", Derbyshire, esq.) and his wife Anne (widow and executrix of Humphrey Wightwick) and 12d. by Henry Harwell and Nicholas Benson to Edward Stapleton et al) E Stapleton et al convey to H. Harwell and N. Benson a moiety of:- (a) six messuages with appurtenances in Spon Street (inhabited by Robert Cutler, Thomas Miller, Richard Price, Henry Hunt, Elizabeth Saunders (widow) and William Chaundeler); (b) a cottage, orchard, backside, croft and garden (lately occupied by H. Wightwick, now by - Tompson) outside Gosford Gate; and (c) Bishop's Hayes, Foleshill, Coventry (let to Thomas Backhowse) with appurtenant lands: to be held by Harwell, Benson and the latter's heirs.
