Whereby, in consideration of £100 paid to James Pickard (of Exhall, Coventry, gentleman) and 1/- to William White (of Coventry, gentleman), they charge to Elizabeth Francis (of Coventry, widow) (a) a new messuage built outside Well Street Gate (having land lately the tanner Mr. Smith's to the south, land lately [the pinmaker] Raphael Howcott's to the north), together with a little croft used as a garden (75 yards X 7 yards), all occupied by Thomas Clews; and (b) a plot with appurtenances (successively occupied by Thomas Murdock, Thomas Smith and Nathaniel Smith [II]) as CCA/2/3/310/2's, whereon James Pickard has built a house: for repayment by J. Pickard to Elizabeth Francis of £102/10/- on 9 Sep [1731].
