I 30 Dec 1911. Conveyance whereby, having recited: firstly, that John Sprawson Turton and George Paddock Turton (of Coventry; grocers trading as Atkins & Turton) held first-scheduled premises absolutely; secondly, that on 28 Mar 1894 John Sprawson and George Paddock Turton mortgaged the property to George Turton for £4,000 at £4% per annum interest; thirdly, that that man's 30 Mar 1898 will appointed Sarah Mary Sprawson Turton and Fanny Sprawson Turton (in 1911 described as of "Cheylesmore", Leamington [Spa, Warwickshire], spinsters) his executrices but left each of his sons £1,000; fourthly, that G. Turton died on 14 Feb 1903 and his will was proved on 30 Mar 1903; fifthly, that John S. Turton and George P. Turton held secondly-scheduled property absolutely; sixthly that, having recited that the two £1,000 legacies had been set off against the £4,000, on 1 Dec 1904 J.S. Turton and G.P. Turton charged the firstly-and secondly-described premises to Joshua Perkins (in 1911 of "Wyken House" near Coventry, esq. [coachlace-manufacturer] ) for redemption of £3,500 at £4% per annum interest; seventhly, that on 1 Oct 1907 J. and G.P. Turton charged the premises to Joshua Perkins for a further £200 at the same repayment-rate; eighthly, that on 1 Nov 1907 J. and G.P. Turton mortgaged the same property to the former's wife Elizabeth for £1,000 similarly redeemable; ninthly, that the £2,000, £3,500, £200 and £1,000 principals were due with interest which amounted to £19; tenthly, that it had been agreed to sell the hereditaments for £4,681/10/6; eleventhly, that £2,230/17/6 thereof was to be paid in cash and the balance in 1,632 shares in Atkins & Turton Ltd. (registered at "Economic Chambers", Little Park Street, Coventry); and twelfthly, that Sarah Mary Sprawson Turton, Fanny Sprawson Turton, J. Perkins and Elizabeth Turton had agreed to release their claims: therefore (in consideration of 18/6 paid to J., and £2,229/19/- to G.P., Turton and the aforesaid allotment of 1,632 shares) J., G.P., Sarah Mary S. and Fanny S. Turton, Perkins and E. Turton conveyed to Atkins & Turton Ltd. (a) 2, High Street (on the northern side of the street), bounded by Pepper Lane or Bayley Lane on the east, west by [the grocer] George Laxon's shop; and (b) two Derby Lane messuages which had long been utilised as a warehouse: to be held under the terms of the respective mortgages, subject to a lease of (a) on 23 Aug 1902 to [the solicitor] Vaughan Wickenden Robinson for fourteen years from 24 Jun 1902 at £85 per annum; the company covenanted to pay the mortgagees their respective sums, from which they in turn released J. and G.P. Turton; those vendors covenanted with the company not to trade as grocers within thirty miles of 2, High Street; the company agreed to discharge the vendors' trade-debts as at 25 Sep [1911], when they amounted to £818/13/-.
II 31 Dec 1923. Reconveyance by Crown City Properties Ltd. (registered at "Whitehall Chambers", Colmore Row, Birmingham) to Atkins & Turton Ltd. of the premises for £3,700 then paid under the terms of a 30 Dec 1911 mortgage of second-scheduled property.
