For £350, by George Birch (of Remenham, Berkshire, esq.) to William White (of Coventry, baker) of a messuage with stables, etc. and a croft whereon a barn formerly stood, and closes to the north-east of the croft which has been enlarged to include a field to its north-east whereon once stood several tenements, barns, gardens and orchards called the Girdlers' Land, all lying beyond New Gate's site on the north-eastern side of the road towards London (with the Little Park to the south-west and a passage from London Road to the Little Park on the west), successively occupied by John Barber, George Hart, William Preston [a St. Michael's churchwarden, 1649], Thomas Collier [a St. Michael's churchwarden, 1709], John Miles, - Gibbs and now Richard Armstrong, all known as the "Salutation"; George Birch covenants against claims via his late father [James].
