Coventry Archives & Research Centre
As a descendant of the Coventry Town Clerk James Birch's family, Birch Reynardson had land near the site of New Gate in 1818 (PA56/140/10). A major-general, he was by then living at Holywell Hall on the Lincolnshire border with Rutland, but retained Allesley property as he was lobbied to support the proprietors' opposition to Reverend William Thomas Bree (q.v.)'s attempt to enforce his tithe-claims (PA56/11/26, dated 1828). PA309 forms family papers.
