By Coventry corporation to William Johnson (of Coventry, victualler) of (a) a new messuage, fronting the northern side of New Street for 29 feet, occupied by Thomas Butler, known as the "Ben Johnson's [sic] Head", lying between a tenement lately occupied by Joseph Bryan, now by William Johnson, on the west and one successively tenanted by William Parker, Robert Barber and now Joseph Holland on the east; and (b) another new messuage there with a 15-foot frontage (adjoining (a) on the east and one on the west successively occupied by the widows Cashmore, Drayton and (now) Judith Perkins) with a yard 19 feet wide next to the Palace Garden wall and 19 yards [sic] deep (including the wall), occupied by W. Johnson, who has built both messuages on the site of two ruinous ones: to be held from 10 Oct 1786 for 21 years at £4 per annum with twice-yearly inspection and re-entry as in PA54/181/1; option of a further maximum 21-year lease if Johnson gives at least three months' notice.
