Known by c.1215-c.1225, Gosford Street ran from Gosford Bridge to Broadgate, but High Street, Earl Street and Jordan Well were successively differentiated from its western end. On the northern side, towards Gosford Gate, land was held by Adam Botoner, whose family had much property there, while to the south lay, from the fourteenth century, Whitefriars'.
